Every AI language product tracks the same things. Latency. Word accuracy. Language pairs supported. These numbers show up in pitch decks and product pages, and they matter. But they only tell you whether the technology is working. They do not tell you whether the conversation is.

Something happened in Rotterdam

When we started testing Glot with real users, we noticed something our dashboards were not measuring. Two people were sitting across from each other at a supplier meeting. One spoke Portuguese. The other spoke Dutch. Glot was interpreting between them. About four minutes in, the Portuguese speaker made a joke about the shipping delay. The Dutch speaker laughed. Then she made one back. Then they both leaned in and started talking faster.

Our system registered it as a normal exchange. Latency was stable. Accuracy was within range. But two strangers had stopped being careful with each other and started being real.

The pattern kept showing up

We went back through other test sessions and found the same thing. Usually somewhere between the third and sixth minute, a conversation would shift from transactional to personal. Someone would laugh.

Someone would ask a follow up question that had nothing to do with the agenda. Someone would go off topic entirely. These were not failures. These were signs that Glot was doing exactly what it was built to do.

So we started measuring it

We listen for laughter. We watch for topic drift. We note when follow up questions go beyond the original subject. When those things happen, it tells us Glot is not just converting words. People have crossed the gap and are actually connecting.

When the technology disappears

Glot optimises for speed and accuracy like everyone else in this space. But we also care about what happens after Glot fades into the background. We care about whether the two people in the room forgot Glot was even there. That is when we know it is working.
